Florida Family Adoptions are permanent, and involve the termination of Parental rights, as well as obligations. Chapter 63 presumes that all parties to a Florida Family Adoption are in agreement. Relative Adoptions are defined as family members within 3 steps of blood relation.

Stepparent adoptions allows for a spouse to legally adopt the biological child of the other spouse, keeping in mind the presumption under Chapter 63 that all parties are in agreement. Initially, the parent being asked to give up their rights can be resistant, until they are made aware that Adoption ends their obligations, including child support.
